Click to view comic page and Tenant descriptions    The Tenants of Tae Kwon Do

Students are required to memorize the "Tenants of TaeKwonDo" as part of there promotional prerequisite. These five tenants are more than just a list of words to be memorized and then repeated when asked. They are at the very core of becoming a Black Belt. Instructors work hard to help there students understand these tenants, incorporating there meanings and day to day practical applications in almost every class. Our students should be taught to use the Tenants as a type of ruler, measuring there day to day actions and decisions against these principles.

Instructors teach there students to develop focus and speed, as well as kicking and punching techniques so they can defend themselves in almost every situation. But it is the Tenants of Tae Kwon Do that teaches a student how to conduct themselves. The two are equally important to a student's development.     click here to view more...

Can martial arts help children with learning disabilities?

Michelle Martin is a psychologist and instructor at Insight Learning and Wellness Center in Cleveland. She teaches Tae Kwon Do to students who have ADHD, autism, Asperger's Syndrome and she has seen improvement in their focus and social skills. She says the martial arts teach self control and concentration.
Some ask "are these children really Black Belts then?" Absolutely! These children have had to work harder and overcome more obstacles to learn the same techniques as others in there class. These factors are a big part of what a Black Belt is all about.
